To ensure maximum effectiveness, our crisis management exercises have traditionally been played in the client’s office where they can be observed by Avida and Strategia experts. Working from home (WFH) calls for an approach that focuses specifically on the very real crisis issues that can be experienced in the WFH situation.  

Your team will become more aware of potential crises and have the opportunity to mitigate them before they occur. They will also benefit from an exercise that will promote team-building and bonding -- especially important in the current WFH environment.

Sample agenda for the 'Work From Home' crisis workshop

1. Welcome and Introduction. (5 mins)

2. Scene-setter. Horizon-scanning talk summarising the key likely (and unlikely) economic, political and social threats/risks that the pension sector faces over the next 12-18 months and addressing some of the ways in which organisations may wish to consider how they are going to adapt and how they will approach risk reduction and mitigation as well as response and recovery measures in the event of a crisis affecting their business. (20 mins)

3. Exercise. Participants take part in a discursive table-top scenario exercise in which they explore and identify key issues relating to a crisis affecting their organisation and address their management of that crisis. Participants will be placed in separate, virtual ‘rooms’, each of which will be facilitated and observed by a Strategia/Avida team member. Participants will be required to determine likely strategic objectives, critical information requirements, key stakeholders and the key messages to be communicated to those stakeholders. The exercise tests the organisations Crisis Management Plan, the situational awareness processes and the decision-making and direction-giving abilities of the participants. (60 mins)

4. Group Feedback. Each group will provide a short summary of their key findings from the exercise. (30 mins

5. Facilitators’ Review. Each facilitator will provide a short review of their group’s performance. (15 mins).

6. Plenary Session. An opportunity for participants to review their own performances and findings and to identify/recommend any key lessons that can be taken forward to improve both individuals’ and the organisations preparedness for and ability to cope with a crisis . (15 mins)

7. Concluding Remarks. A summary of the key findings and conclusions. (5 mins) Total time: 150 mins (2.5 hours)
